Can I repeat a course?
What to know before retaking the same course for CE credit
Rules regarding course repetition vary by state and training category.
While Quest CE's system may allow users to register for and complete a course and its examination multiple times in certain cases, the state insurance department or designation board has the authority to deny credit for repeated courses if repetition is not permitted.
There are some helpful examples of exceptions to be aware of:
-
State Insurance CE: Some states permit course repetition for credit, while others do not. New York, for example, does not allow CE courses to be repeated for credit under any circumstances.
-
IAR CE: IAR CE courses cannot be repeated for credit.
Details on whether a state or designation catalog allows course repetition are also commonly noted in the State Requirements section within the respective catalog on our website (https://learn.questce.com).
Before retaking a course, we recommend verifying with your state insurance department or applicable designation board that you are eligible to receive credit for a course you have previously completed.
