How Is A Course Exam Formatted, and What Score Is Required to Pass?
What to expect before you begin an exam
Exams on the Quest CE platform are taken online and consist of multiple-choice questions.
Here's what you should know before getting started:
Format
- Exams remain locked until you have completed the content (material) portion of the course first
- Exams are closed book — you may not access course content or seek outside assistance during the exam
- The number of exam questions varies by course type, credit hours, and content length. Common examples include:
- State CE/Designation CE courses: typically 50 questions
- Firm Element courses: 10 questions
- IAR CE courses: 15 questions
- IA Training courses: 10 questions
- IA Micro Training courses: 5 questions
- Questions and response options are both randomly scrambled by the system each time an exam is taken
Passing Score
For standard Quest CE training courses, a score of 70% or higher is required to pass and earn a Complete status. Not to worry, you can retake exams again as needed to earn a passing score.
Important: Exams Must Be Completed in One Sitting
Once you begin your exam, you must complete it without exiting. If you exit before finishing, your progress will not be saved and you will be required to start over.
